There's no more appropriate time to celebrate a loving union than on Valentine's day. Decor will also be easy to find, and you have a wide variety of choices at your disposal. Valentine's Day is synonymous with romance, and if you have chosen this day to marry, you're a truly romantic soul. Let this sense of romance set the stage for your wedding.
Red is the obvious, and dramatic color of Valentine's weddings. This is the traditional color of the heart as it relates to love. You can play with this color, it does not need to be bright screaming red. Deep burgundies and maroons are just as romantic as true red. You can choose a totally different color to work with as your basic theme color, and just have touches of red as accents. Deep colors tend to be more dramatic than pastels, regal blues, gold, deep greens, and rich ivory are all shades that set a lovely backdrop for little hints of red.
For your gown, think about something that feels romantic for you, whether it is a dramatic satin or velvet with a plunging neckline, a tight bodice, and tremendous skirts with a sweeping train. A simpler gown is another option, and may remind you of simple romance. Hire a band or a DJ that is familiar with classic and romantic dance numbers. Lots of slow dancing, and perhaps a classical string quartet is perfect for this type of wedding.
Candles in shimmering candelabras or crystal candleholders will set a wonderful mood. Lighting should be low, and try to use soft gauzy fabrics. Roses are very expensive at this time of year, but one magnificent collection of old fashioned roses spilling from a vase in a strategic location will make a huge impact. Let the traditional motif come into play. Use frilly heart shaped place cards.
