You should try to avoid school vacation times like February March and April, when popular resorts can be full of young children. Jamaica is much larger than most people think. Jamaica is nearly 4500 square miles, which is roughly the size of Connecticut.

Each resort area has a different feel. But some of the best regions for romantic resorts are Negril, Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios. The public perception that Jamaica is a dangerous place is somewhat overblown, however to abate the fears of most guests, the larger resorts have tight security and are usually place behind iron gates.

There are no residency requirements to be married in Jamaica, but you will need certified copies of birth certificates that include father's name, and proof of divorce or death certificate from a former spouse, if applicable. The application must be made in advance of the trip and there is a small fee for the license and stamp duty.
