Planning your wedding can be a very exciting time in your life as well as everyone in your family. If you already have children, it is almost like this is their wedding too. After all, this is a big step for any family to go through, and children especially will find all of the motions that you will be going through to be very important. Because of this, many couples have been finding different ways to include their children in different aspects of the wedding ceremony as well as the reception.
Today, many children have been able to be much more involved in their parent's wedding. It used to be that the only time children would be involved in the wedding would be as the flower girl or the ring bearer. In addition to those duties, there have been other options that children may be involved in depending on their age.
One possibility is giving the opportunity for your child to help out with something like handing out the programs at the beginning of the ceremony. Some children even like to get up during the ceremony itself and recite poetry for their parents. If either parent has children from a previous relationship, you can involve them in something called a promise ceremony. This is when the new parent presents the child(ren) with some sort of bracelet or necklace with a promise of always being there for them. It is a beautiful way to not only have children feel involved in the wedding, but it also gives them an important sense of belonging and family.
