Many couples don't take any time to think about their wedding music before hand. It is the soundtrack, for the most important day of your life. When you see a movie, and later hear a song from that movie's soundtrack on the radio, doesn't it remind you of that movie? You should have the same warm memories for your wedding!

Of course, there is the important choice of your wedding song, your first dance as man and wife. You should choose a song that means something to you both. Many couples choose a popular, slow, nice sounding song. Be sure to pay attention to the lyrics though? Too often, a couple chooses a song that sounds lovely, but do not pay any attention to what the lyrics really mean, and wind up choosing a song that is actually about divorce, or death, or adultery! Also, make sure to choose a song that means something to both of you. This song will be YOUR song, make sure you both like it!

There are also other songs that need to be chosen for your wedding music. You may need a song for your last dance, or going away dance. You may also need songs for the father and daughter (bride) dance, the mother and son (groom) dance, and if there are children involved from previous relationships, you may want to have a special song for the new stepparent to dance with their new stepchildren to, and a song for parents and their children to dance to, to show them they still are, and always will be important.

Other than that, when choosing your wedding music, make a list of any special songs you want to make sure the entertainer has on hand. Is there a song that is a tradition in your families at weddings? Is there a song that you want to share with your attendants and guests? Also, when going over your wedding music, make sure you make a list of what not to play! Are there any songs that really grate on your nerves? Do you want the chicken dance and the Macarena played at your wedding? Do you want YMCA and "celebrate" played? Make sure your entertainment specialist knows ahead of time that you do not, under any circumstances want these songs played at your wedding if you hate them!
