Anyone knows that if you are getting married, you have all kinds of things to take care of from your reception hall rental down to your wedding announcement. While some couples opt to go just for the wedding announcement that is printed in the local newspaper or town newsletter, many couples are now taking it upon themselves to bring back the tradition of wedding announcement cards. They are pretty much set up along the same lines as a "save the date" announcement, letting friends and family know that they can expect the event coming soon and so on. One of the reasons why such wedding announcements had seemed to become extinct was the high cost of printing. With many couples cutting corners to save money these days, such wedding announcements had begun to become a thing of the past. Well, that is until couples have become a bit more creative and have taken it upon themselves to make them on their home computer. With this type of a wedding announcement, you can also add in a lot of personal touches. Not to mention the fun involved in making them together! If you are not really the crafty type, you can do something as simple as printing up a copy of your engagement photo on card stock. Then, flip it over and have the details of your impending marriage printed on the backside. Another fun thing to do if you are a bit more creative is mounting one of your engagement photos on a card that you will embellish yourself. You can put all of the information for the wedding announcement on the inside while adorning the outside with glitter, ribbons and even confetti.

Have you ever wanted to follow the common guidelines when it comes to buying the right wedding anniversary gift? For years, couples have been using a list of traditional wedding anniversary gifts. This list has since changed with the times, giving a bit more modern flare to some of the items on certain years. For example, the list used to have paper for a first year wedding anniversary gift. With the modern list, the first year wedding anniversary gift is a clock. If you decide that you and your mate would like to follow the wedding anniversary gift guidelines, you may come across a few problems trying to find just the right item on certain years. For the fourth wedding anniversary gift on the modern list, the item is an appliance. When it comes to a husband gift, you could get him an electric shaver or even an electric back massager. For the wife, how about a foot spa or perhaps an ice cream maker instead of regular appliances such as a toaster or blender. The longer you are married to one another, the modern list of wedding anniversary gifts grow in both price and value. For example, the twentieth year is platinum, the thirtieth year is diamond, the fiftieth year is gold and so on. These days, a couple staying together for this amount of time is both wonderful and romantic. This is the perfect opportunity to take the time and plan to give such amazing items as wedding anniversary gifts to that special spouse of yours who has been with you for so many years.

Your wedding album is filled with all kinds of memories that you want to cherish forever. Often times, you will get a wedding album from a guest at your wedding or maybe one is even provided by your photographer. Either way, even though these wedding albums are built to house your important pictures, they often lack personal style and flare. So, why not put some of your creativity to use and make your very own wedding album scrapbook? Even if you have little or no experience with scrapbooking, you will find that this is a simple and fun process. Once you have all of the right tools and a bunch of great embellishments to add to your pages, you will be ready to start scrappin'! Go ahead and start to organize some of the wedding photos that you would like to put in your own album. Some people may tackle this part by organizing groups of photos by theme or portion of the wedding. For example, when all of the girls are getting their hair done at the salon before the wedding, you could have a page or two dedicated to that. Cropping pictures into fun shapes and adding stickers to reflect your page are a great way to add your style to your wedding album scrapbook. You can also add items such as your invitation, the wedding announcement that was printed in the local newspaper and even a program of the wedding events if you happen to have had one. All of these items are just perfect to add with the proper embellishments. Perhaps you had confetti or dried rose petals on the tables at the reception. You would be just amazed at how gorgeous these things could look when added to the pages of your wedding album scrapbook.

One of the most important aspects for most brides is her wedding dress. Many women have dreamed of what their wedding dress would look like for many years. Perhaps she dreamt of a full ball gown with a cathedral length train. Maybe she dreamt of a simpler empire waist dress with just a sweep. Whatever you like, there is a wedding dress out there for you. Wedding dresses usually come at a premium price. There are also alterations that nearly always have to be done, and that adds to the cost. Once you find a style you like, start looking at many bridal shops. Most shops will carry the big name designers, and can probably get you that same dress you saw at another shop. Comparison shop, not just for the dress price, but also for package pricing. Many shops will offer free items with dresses of a certain price range, and might even have discounts arranged with other wedding service providers. Some will offer a free tuxedo rental for the groom, and/or discounts for bridesmaid and groomsmen’s attire. Shop around, and don’t be afraid to ask a shop if they can do better than what another shop offered you! It’s important to like the people at the shop though, especially if they are going to be doing the alterations as well. If you are on a tight budget, you can always consider buying on consignment, sample sales, warehouse stores, or even online auction sites. If your wedding is less formal, try looking in local department stores, and even discount retailers that sell last season’s items, or less than perfect (usually this means some issue with stitching or the tag, or something equally silly, that you would never ever notice!). There are brides who wore beautiful dresses; some bought them for as little as thirty dollars that were never meant to be wedding dresses. Look for white prom, homecoming, or other formal dresses. A great time to shop, for any type of dress, is before the new designs come out. Ask when the ‘in’ season for your area usually ends. Ask when new styles generally come out and previous season’s designs are discontinued.

How do you go about choosing a chapel, if you aren’t active in a particular church? It’s easier than you might think! There are actually websites for this very thing! Just type “find a wedding chapel” into your favorite search engine! To narrow it down a bit more, type in your location as well. When choosing a wedding chapel location, you will need to have an idea of how many guests you are to have. Chapels are generally pretty small places, so they are best for small weddings. Try and keep in mind the proximity of the chapel to your reception site. A very far drive, especially if the streets between the locations get confusing, could be very frustrating for guests who are not familiar with your area. Try and keep things close by whenever possible. When you go to see a location, make sure to ask about specific time limitations, decorations, and photographers. Will they allow your photographer and videographer time before to set up (if you are having a photographer and videographer)? How many guests can the chapel accommodate? Will you be allowed to bring in your own decorations? Will you need to make arrangements for someone to take down these decorations immediately after the ceremony? Do they have their own decorations that you may use? This could save money for a bride on a budget. Consider these things, and choosing your wedding chapel should be a breeze! Just take it easy, write down any questions you have before you visit the site, and make sure you get all of your questions answered. Find out how much of a deposit you will need, and when the remainder of the payment will be due. Read over any contract very carefully, as with any contract.

A wedding ceremony should be as unique as each couple that is getting married. Here is a basic outline of a wedding ceremony that you can tailor to your own tastes. Every religion has their own customs, rules, rituals, and traditions for wedding ceremonies. Also, your officiant may also have specific procedures to be followed when they officiate a wedding ceremony. To be sure to include all of these things, when planning your ceremony, be sure to consult with your officiant every step of the way. Here is a general outline of how most ceremonies go: 1. The processional The order of the processional varies from one faith to another, consult your officiant for more information. 2.The welcome, introduction, or call to worship The officiant will welcome guests and will usually offer a few words about marriage. 3. Questions of Intent These are the usual questions asked by the officiant. “Do you take this woman to be your wedded wife” and so on. 4. Declaration of Consent This is primarily a Protestant ritual, wherein the Bride’s parents “give” her to the groom, and state this publicly, before guests and family. 5. Readings or Music Readings are a great way for the couple to personalize their ceremony. Be sure to check with your officiant first however, because some churches and places of worship allow only certain things. 6. Vows Most people are familiar with traditional protestant vows. Some couples choose to write their own vows, or recite some alternative to the traditional vows. 7. Exchange of the Rings 8. Pronouncement of Marriage 9. Special Acts of Celebration This is when a Unity candle would be lit, flower giving to the parents, or gifts for step children. 10. Benediction, prayers, and blessings 11. Presentation of the new couple 12. Recessional Of course most of these things can be custom tailored by you, to fit your needs and wants. Just check with your clergyman or officiant if you plan on changing anything within your wedding ceremony.

There are about a million details to worry about when planning a wedding. Centerpieces are all too often overlooked, and then thrown together haphazardly at the last minute. Have you ever seen a truly horrendous centerpiece? How about one that was breathtakingly beautiful? Are you tired of the same old rounded flower centerpiece? What is the type YOU want? There are many options for centerpieces. Plan ahead so you don’t have that hideous centerpiece of your wedding nightmares. Here are just a few ideas to get you started: A large glass bowl, filled with water and floating candles, in your wedding colors. Also consider putting some glass beads on the bottom of the bowl in one or more of your wedding colors. Is your wedding a bit more toned down and minimal? Perhaps a large candle plate with a few pillar candles in different heights, and some polished rocks around the base. For the romantic types, have some favorite poetry printed, in a romantic script of calligraphy, and put it in a beautiful frame surrounded with your wedding flowers. If you would like the truly unique, consider round glass fishbowls, with rocks on the bottom, matching your wedding colors, and a beta fish. Consider having several photos, or a collage of pictures of the bride and groom through the years printed. Frame and place on tables, and surround with wide ribbon or flowers. Go to a local craft or home décor store, and you might find figurines that match your theme that you can use as your centerpieces. You can place them on a pedestal, or a piece of mirrored glass.

Ideally, we would all like to have our own wedding planner or wedding coordinator. For some brides, this isn’t in the budget. For those who are able to have a wedding coordinator in the budget, here is a brief explanation of what a wedding coordinator really does. Wedding coordinators play an important role as professionals. A consultant's primary role is to help a couple learn, use, and manage all the tasks required to host a successful wedding. The wedding coordinator assumes the role of a planner, money manager, organizer, facilitator, and mediator for all people concerned. The wedding coordinator’s role is to be ‘on top’ of every detail, no matter how tiny, of a wedding. A wedding coordinator can do just about everything - from remembering to bring white bobby pins for your veil, to arranging a budget and timetable. Duties can include offering etiquette advice, setting up appointments, mailing invitations and recording responses, setting up the decorations, negotiating contracts, and attending to many other details. Most wedding coordinators have their own limits as to what they will do, so check with your wedding coordinator about their own limits, so that you get a coordinator that will do everything you want and need them to, and still can be within their own limits, so everyone is happy! Weddings are extremely emotional events. The wedding coordinator is able to "handle" any situation that will arise. They are there to make sure things go smoothly, and give you the peace of mind to sit back and enjoy your day, knowing that everything is taken care of.

Although it is a major part of your big event, many couples do not actually pay enough attention to their wedding music. Sure, they will go through the motions of hiring a DJ or a band and possibly even both. But, when it comes to the actually music being played, many couples tend to leave it in the hands of the professionals. However, you may find that it will come out sounding much better in the end if you actually become involved in the process of actually choosing the wedding music itself. This process can go far beyond just picking what songs you want played during the ceremony or for the first dance. A great number of couples are choosing to come up with some sort of a theme to their wedding music to go along with the same theme for the big event itself. Also, it is generally a great idea to come up with some kind of mix that will work well with all of your guests. Even though your younger friends or attendants may enjoy heavy metal, it does not necessarily mean that the older generations in attendance will enjoy the same heavy beats. Sit down with your partner and make a general list of some of the songs that you would want to be played. You can even add in certain songs into your wedding that may remind you of different times within your relationship, such as a first date and so on. The next step would be to sit down with your DJ or a member or your live act so that you can go over all of the details of your wishes with them. Make sure that you have fun with your wedding music, as this is something that you should never stress out about.

While you are going through the process of planning your big day, there will be a point where you have to pick out the perfect wedding invitation. Although some people may not think that much of the style of wedding invitations, they are key to setting the tone for your entire event. Chances are, your wedding invitation will be the first glimpse that your guests will have as to what type of theme or color scheme you are planning to use for your big day. Many brides actually spend hours picking out just the right invitations to not only fit their style but also their budget. You always want to be sure that you spell out every word when you are coming up with the text for your invitations. It is deemed to be tacky and improper if you use any abbreviations. For example, you never want to use an abbreviation for words such as avenue, road, street, senior and so on. It has also been known to be proper etiquette to use roman numerals instead of numbers when used in a name, such as using III instead of 3rd. Finally, you want to be sure that you read over your wedding invitations several times before you send it off to the printer, or before you print a large batch off if you are making them yourself. The last thing you want is to notice such a problem after the wedding invitations have already been sent out to your guests. It is always best that you mail out your wedding invitations no later than six to eight weeks before your event. This type of a timeframe is just right for allowing your guests ample time to respond and make the necessary plans to attend. Also, this gives you enough time as needed to give a head count to the caterer if you are having a formal dinner at the reception. Next, you are going to want to be sure that you have all of the proper wording down when you are selecting the text for your wedding invitations.

Many brides know exactly how they want their wedding hair to look since they were little girls daydreaming with their friends imagining how their big day would be. However, times and styles often change and your personal tastes will more than likely change as well. Perhaps you are going to be wearing a much different dress than that Cinderella-style gown that you had originally fallen in love with. There are a few common guidelines that you can follow that should help you out quite a bit when you are narrowing down your wedding hair choices. First and foremost, you want to be sure that your wedding hair does not make you look like another person altogether. If you normally wear your hair fairly short, you should not feel as though you have to grow it out just for your wedding. The bride walking down the aisle should look like you and not some model from a bridal magazine. Another good rule of thumb is taking the style of your wedding dress into consideration when planning your do. For a long, flowing dress, you may want to choose wedding hair that is also flowing and sexy. Keep in mind as well that if you are uncomfortable with your style, then the chances are that you will be pretty uncomfortable at your wedding as well. The last thing that you want is some giant updo that is going to weigh you down or be so tall that you smash your head when you are getting in and out of the limousine. With all of that being said, you want to make sure that you are giving yourself plenty of time to plan ahead for your wedding hair. Take into consideration if you are thinking about growing it or the possibility of changing the color before the big day. These are things that you should achieve ahead of time so your wedding hair is all ready and set to go for your special event.

All of the pieces of the puzzle that fit together to make up your beautiful wedding day are equally important, right down to the wedding guest book. However, on your search for just the right wedding guest book, you may have found yourself becoming very frustrated that there were not any that actually suited your tastes and/or wedding theme. After all, you are going to be saving your wedding guest book forever so you do not want to settle just for any old version. With that being said, have you ever thought of making your own guest book? Making your own wedding guest book can be pretty simple once you get started on the project. All you have to do is get some of the basic supplies and you are ready to get started. The length of time it will take you and the amount of materials to buy will all depend on just how involved and done up you want the book to be. Gone are the days of those super-frilly and lace-covered guest books, but if you would like one like that, then you just need a little bit of imagination and some extra time. You can start your book by getting a basic scrapbook from any craft store. Make sure that you buy some extra pages so that you can add any extras as you deem necessary. In order to get an idea of how you should set up the wedding guest book, you may want to have one that is already finished to use as a guideline. When you get started, you can get to work on the pages, adding embellishments and relevant tid-bits along the way. Making your own wedding guest book is the perfect way for you to convey the personal tastes of both you and your husband to be. After you have used the book at your wedding, you can also keep adding pages and make it into a scrapbook that covers your honeymoon and the rest of your first year. You just may find that you fall in love with the craft of scrapbooking once you start in on your very own wedding guest book.

So, the big day is finally almost here and you have just brought home your wedding gown. Now that the dress is with you, things may start to become more real, especially as the countdown begins. Even though you may have daydreamed about your wedding gown in the past, you may find yourself doing it even more so now. How will you look when you are getting in and out of the limousine? Will I be able to maneuver in it while still looking graceful? One of the more powerful questions has to do with fear, being the question of how you will be able to wear it without ripping or staining it at all on the big day, especially before the ceremony even begins. One really good trick that most brides will use is designating someone to help you with your dress, be it the maid of honor or a close relative. This person should probably go with you to some of your final fittings so that she knows exactly how your dress works, how the train is attached and so on. You should also speak with whomever is going to be helping you with your dress of what they can do to help you in case you have a wedding gown emergency. This is where a type of bridal survival kit can come in really handy. Such a bridal survival kit should contain the regular bridal emergency staples including tissues, make up, deodorant, breath mints and also sewing items. This is the perfect place to keep double-sided fabric tape in case of a problem in the hem area. You can also include a needle and thread, safety pins and so on. By being prepared, you will have a much better chance of keeping your wedding gown looking beautiful throughout your entire special day. Now, you can only hope that you do not step on the front of your wedding gown when you are getting out of the limousine for the ceremony!

If you are of if you know somebody who is going to be getting married soon, there has probably been mention of buying a wedding garter. The wedding garter has become quite a popular staple of any bridal outfit and in some cases it is considered a completely essential accessory that a bride cannot walk down the aisle without. Though the wedding garter can come in many colors and styles, many brides tend to use this opportunity for the accessory to reflect their something blue. This comes from the traditional wedding rhyme that goes as follows: Something old, something new... Something borrowed, something blue... and a silver sixpence for her shoe. To incorporate blue in with their wedding garter, brides will often wear one made of all blue materials, or even one with a blue bow or gem attached to a white garter. The meaning of adding something blue to the wardrobe is that the color is supposed to represent loyalty and purity. The wedding garter has come quite a long way from just being an ordinary item to help hold up your stockings! Not only is a wedding garter a fun item for the bride to wear, there are also several rituals that many couples take part in that involve this garment at their reception festivities. During a portion of the reception, the groom removes the garter from the leg of his new bride. He then tosses it blindly into a crowd of bachelors gathered around him. Superstition has it that whomever catches the wedding garter will be the next male to be married. Sometimes, the male who caught the wedding garter will then put it on the leg of the bachelorette who caught the bouquet during the bridal toss.

For many brides who are planning their big day, they usually find it very important that they follow all of the guidelines of modern wedding etiquette. Although some of the etiquette rules have changed a great deal over the years with the changing times, there are still a few that stand strong. Of course, depending on the area that you live in and according to certain family traditions, modern etiquette can vary a bit. So, what are a few modern etiquette tips that a bride could find helpful? Although it used to be considered rude and tacky to include gift registry information inside of the bridal shower invitation, modern wedding etiquette states that it is perfectly fine to do so. Actually, many people have become rather fond of being able to have such information available to them. Having this type of information at their fingertips makes it much easier for them when it comes to shopping for items that the couple will enjoy. However, while it is acceptable to put this type of registry information in the bridal shower invitations, it should never be included with a wedding invitation. This is one rule of wedding etiquette that has stayed strong all throughout the years. Another popular topic when it comes to proper modern wedding etiquette is the right way and the wrong way to request that there be no children in attendance at the reception. A good way to word this request would be to use the wording "Number of adults attending" or "adult reception following" when you are having the invitations printed up. This way you are implying to parents that you prefer that the reception be adults only instead of demanding it to be so. If you take these tips along with other wedding etiquette rules, you should be on your way to flawless planning for your big event.

If you are designing your own invitations, announcements, place cards, programs, or thank you cards, chances are, you will need wedding clip art. Simply typing the phrase “wedding clip art” into your favorite search engine will bring you a plethora of sites. However, once you start looking through these wedding clip art sites, you will start to see a trend. Some are not free, and some really don’t have any wedding clip art, they are just doing whatever they can to drive traffic to their site! You can save yourself a lot of time and frustration if you can find a wedding clip art CD-Rom at a local retailer. However, that’s more money spent, isn’t it? There IS free wedding clip art out there, it just takes a little bit of internet savvy to find. This article can help you to refine these results. First and foremost, refine your search. You want free clip art don’t you? If you are looking for a particular graphic, say wedding bells, then you should add that to your search. Instead of simply typing “wedding clip art” it might be better to try searching for “free wedding clip art bells.” Try using the advanced search feature, if your favorite search engine has one. Usually there will be a place where you can tell the search engine to find ALL words, rather than any words. If keyword phrases are hard for you to come up with, try one of the search engines that allows users to simply type in a plain language question, like “where can I find free wedding clip art?” One thing that is a good idea to have on your computer is some sort of adware and spyware detection software, as well as a pop up blocker. You will unfortunately find that many free wedding clip art sites will have pop-ups galore, and may even install adware and spyware on your system. These types of programs can slow your system down considerably, so try and keep them off your system by using detection and removal software.

Weddingchannel.com can help a bride find nearly everything she needs for planning a wedding. This site can help you find everything you could possibly need to plan your big day. Wedding Channel also publishes a magazine, and you can subscribe to that magazine on their site as well. Wedding channel has a personalized tools area for site members (becoming a member is free!). These tools are immensely helpful to a couple planning a wedding. You will have access to Planning Checklists, registries, tips, tricks, advice, shopping, and you can also setup your own wedding website, to keep friends and family updated on your wedding planning progress. In the tools area, you will also find a budget calculator, tools to send “save the date” messages, and a digital scrapbook, where you can save articles and pictures that you like. It’s incredibly helpful to have all these resources in one area. You can search for local services that you may need for your wedding, anything from photographers to chair rentals. The Guest List Manager is a life saver…you can save names and addresses, and keep a running tally of who has responded, who will attend, and who will not be able to. Not everything is about just you there either! You can choose a favorite charity, and Wedding Channel will make a donation every time someone purchases an item from your registry! Not only can you have a great wedding, but you can have the warm feeling of knowing you’re doing something good for others too!

Wedding cards, also known as “Save the Date” cards, are used mostly in situations where a lot of guests will need to travel to get to your wedding. They are also important for especially busy guests, so that they can make sure they are free for your big day, and won’t have to shuffle other commitments around when they get the invitations. Since invitations may not have been ordered yet, and are usually sent six to eight weeks before the big day, this allows your guests to know well in advance that a date is set, and that they will need to make travel arrangements for that date. They are also sometimes used as an engagement announcement. Wedding cards are usually very simple and to the point. Most simply say something along the lines of “Please save the date for our wedding, John and Jane, January 25, 2007.” Of course you can use alternate wording if you prefer. Perhaps include a quote, or a line from a special poem. Some couples have gotten very creative with their wedding cards though! You can have them printed on a magnet, or include a sticker for the guest’s calendar, just be creative. If the card is memorable, your guests will remember! If you already have a theme in mind for your wedding, consider styling your wedding cards to match. If you haven’t sent out engagement announcements, you might want to have an engagement portrait made (many photographers will include this with your package), and include a copy with your wedding card.

There is a new trend in weddings that’s emerged over the last couple of years. Disposable cameras at the reception, for guests to use to shoot pictures during the wedding are the new trend for weddings, especially for those who want tons of pictures, without paying professional photographers’ prices for TONS of pictures. Sounds easy right? Well there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration, so it’s not completely easy! This article will go over a few of those considerations, so that you will know what you need to get those great pictures! It seems simple enough, you go to the store to grab a couple of dozen disposable cameras, and that’s it right? When you get there though, you realize there are dozens of choices in disposable cameras. What should you buy? To be on the safe side, try to get cameras that have a flash, 400 speed would be good for just about any occasions. These should run anywhere from $4 to $6 each, but try and keep an eye out for sales or multi-pack specials! There are also wedding themed cameras available for you to purchase. How many do you need? Well, try to put at least one camera on each table, but consider having two or more per table if your tables are large and seat more than four to six people. Keep in mind that these cameras will have anywhere from 24 to 36 exposures (pictures) each, and you will need to pay for developing and printing! If you decided not to buy the wedding themed cameras, you can still personalize them! You can print labels with your names, and the date, to put on the cameras. Also, consider putting a label on the back with a cute verse about leaving the camera for you and your new spouse to enjoy! Have a bridesmaid or groomsman, or even a parent collect the cameras at the end of the night. You can also consider copying the pictures to a CD and sending a copy of that CD to your guests with your thank you notes.

It’s bound to happen. A movie has been made about them, brides and grooms dread the thought of running into them, and some sneaky professionals even turn people into them! Weddings are often very large affairs, and they go unnoticed. I am talking about a wedding crasher. For most weddings, particularly those that are not taking place in a large, high-profile city, this is a fairly low probability event, but it does happen. There are people out there who do crash weddings, for a variety of reasons. How do you avoid wedding crashers? For starters, talk to your service providers about this very situation! While most service providers wouldn’t dream of doing such a thing, there are a few out there that will invite potential clients to OTHER weddings they are serving to check out their work! If any service provider even suggests such a thing, walk away, and tell them exactly why you are doing it! Receptions held in hotels and resorts with public traffic and often multiple simultaneous events can draw the simply curious as well as those looking for free drinks and food and a convivial atmosphere. They can also draw a variety of criminals more interested in what's in people's pockets or in making off with some of the gifts. You should evaluate your situation to decide just how seriously you need to take the issue of security. If one of you has a problem with an ex-lover, talk it over and decide whether there's a possible threat warranting hiring security. Perhaps having several friends aware of the problem and staying alert for trouble is all that's required. You need to remember that you aren't going to be thinking about crashers or other security problems and you shouldn't have to. All you really may need is to have several people who can - and will - be able to ensure that everyone attending was invited. Checking that attendees have invitations may be useful. Having a guest book for everyone to sign as they arrive creates another security barrier.
