How to get your wedding announcement done in New York City
Wedding announcement in The New York Times is a definite must but let’s just say it’s tough trying to get into it. I suppose being a daughter of a oil production company helps but this doesn’t mean that The New York Times won’t announce your wedding if your father is a house painter. The tip here is to follow the rules.
The New York Times people are tough on the rules. Their time line is 6 months so, if you want them to announce your wedding for you in the paper, be sure to send it in before then. And make no mistake about it, the New York Times people will go through each and every single given detail about your NYC wedding announcement! And they are very specific with the requirements on the photos so, call (212)556-7325 to listen for their recorded message – be fast with the writing too! For a small fee, you can use the online website to announce your NYC wedding….go to www.nytimes.com for more info.
Well, if you don’t have a six month lead as required by New York Times, you can try the Rockland Journal News. This NYC will announce your wedding AND engagement announcements if you send them the proper documents. Although they won’t publish your photos (no polariod accepted – must be professionally taken) for engagements, they will publish wedding photos. However, professional photographers may take a longer time than needed to meet with the deadline, so, we suggest going to the photo studio for the picture instead…instead of using the wedding pictures. All you need is a form and details for the wedding announcement – call (914) 578 2484 for that.
If you’re living within the Staten Island region and want to announce your wedding, try the Staten Island Advance. At this point in time, The NY Staten Island Advance paper will only publish wedding announcements for people living here. Don’t bother trying to wrestle your way through because in order to have your wedding announced here, you’ll need to physically go to their office to complete the procedure and also provide them with your signature. Everything has to be done there and then – you can’t take the form home and mail it back to them because they’re pretty strict about the resident and former resident of Staten Island NY rule. To get your wedding announcement in The Staten Island Advance, go on over to The Advance building is at 950 Fingerboard Road on Staten Island. For further information, call (718) 981-1234.
There are couple of other papers that I have yet to cover but I’ll cover it on Monday. Stay tuned!
