Weddings are magical and it’s an experience that one should have lots of memories of….fond ones to recall. Weddings should also be recorded in every single way possible so that we can look back at those pictures we took during the wedding, look back at it and tell stories to our grandkids while we sit on the rocking chair. It’s true and with all the modern equipment we have at hand these days, there are many ways to record down the precious wedding memories to share with your friends and family. A friend recorded everything wedding detail down from the point of proposal to the honeymoon.

Having massive headaches about what kind of wedding gown to choose for your wedding dinner? Have you been receiving calls from just about everyone you know asking you about your wedding gown and the groom's suit? It's common....relax. Everyone goes ballistic over the wedding gown. They want the bride to look absolutely smashing in a glamorous celebrity-worthy wedding gown fit for a Princess....and so do you. It all gets a little bit more confusing when you have a lot of people offering you their note-worthy advice, doesn’t it?

It’s your wedding and you have every right to demand that the wedding be as special and magical as it can be! Getting married is a big thing, so, let me just talk you over with a couple of ideas and…you know, intricate details that the men might miss.

It is beyond my (and your) imagination to have a wedding dinner without all those beautiful laces, figurines, fluff and stuff! You’re probably thinking along the lines of a fairytale wedding. But while not everyone can afford a fairytale wedding, you can quite easily get some people into the picture to make your wedding as perfect as a Princess’ one is.

Apart from the wedding pictures that you take at the photo studio, the photographer that you pick for your wedding day itself is as important as the bridal gown. What could be more important than having all those beautifully professional pictures taken so that you can keep them for future showing-off sessions? Imagine being surrounded by your grandchildren and all of them gawking at your beautiful wedding pictures taken by a professional New York City high-flying photographer! Weddings, hopefully, comes once in a lifetime and it makes sense to invest in a good photographer who can deliver artistic yet realistic canvas of your wedding day!

I was just thinking about all those wedding scenes I’ve seen in movies….the ‘Julia Roberts’ one in My Bestfriend’s wedding sort of stood out a little….or maybe it’s just Miss Roberts’ blindingly beautiful smile. Anyway, thinking along the lines of weddings and marriage registrars came the thought about the person who is going to get your married. Usually imagined to be a man because of all the stereotyping done against women registrars…unintentionally, of course.

Why is it that you can imagine a man to marry you off to someone else and not imagine a woman marrying you off? Peculiar, isn’t it?

One of the biggest concerns about a wedding dinner or party is how to get your wedding guests to let their guard and hair down and boogey the night away. Let's admit it, apart from wearing the most smashing gown and handsomest man on your arm, the next most important thing is how much fun your friends are going to have on your wedding night. The wedding DJ has a huge role to play in ensuring that. It is, arguably, one of the most important facts to look into, apart from booking a limousine ride for your wedding arrival. The wedding guests may not remember the gown you wore or the dinner dishes served but guests remember your wedding by how much fun they had!

So, I'm going to broach the subject of hiring a DJ for your wedding today.

On Friday, I was just talking about how to get your wedding announced in some of the local dailies. There are a couple of other New York City newspapers I’ve not covered yet, so, I’ve decided to write on them today. Actually, I was thinking that how handy it actually is to have your wedding announcement done over the papers. I mean, the Internet is fabulous thing but I feel a little apprehensive about uploading my wedding picture into the Internet….free for all to use and republish. But then again, who’s to say people won’t scan the pictures off of the newspaper wedding announcement and use it anyway, right?

Anyway, here goes.

Wedding announcement in The New York Times is a definite must but let’s just say it’s tough trying to get into it. I suppose being a daughter of a oil production company helps but this doesn’t mean that The New York Times won’t announce your wedding if your father is a house painter. The tip here is to follow the rules.

Don’t be surprised….I’ve seen many of my girlfriends collapse after their weddings. The reason? Not that I want to make fun of them online but apparently, they wanted to organize everything about their own special day themselves. From the wedding cake to the limousine rental. From the hotel bookings to the invitations. Well, you know what? Instead of collapsing after your wedding and spend the honeymoon recovering, why not hire a wedding planner who will deal with all the dirty details for you. Contrary to popular beliefs, wedding planners aren’t really expensive. I have had friends tell me that they had people plan everything about the wedding (right down to the tee) for under $1000….some under $800.
