Pretty-ing up for your prom – the to-do list before the prom

Every time the word ‘prom’ is said, the first thing I think about is fairytale princesses, handsome princely men, fabulous ballroom and of course…the prettiest ever red-carpet-deserving prom dresses. This year, I’ve taken a peep at some of the prom dresses available on the internet for the year and I am kind of elated with the designs and variety. But it would be a big mistake for you to take on the first prom dress that takes your fancy. There are many other things to consider and think about before you start begging your parents for their credit cards.

Laces, ruffles, layers – prom dress fashion issues
Talk about a problem so common that even women in their seventies and eighties worry about. Fashion. Fashion prom dresses is something I wouldn't concern myself too much over because it’s all about finding something that fits your personality. If you think you’re a little bit of a daredevil, go for shorter prom dresses that shows off your shapely legs. If you’re a conservative person, go for the laces and ruffles.

Color of your prom dress
Apart from the cut and the design, the color of your prom dress is also very important. Give your date a call and coordinate with him and do that well IN ADVANCE. If he’s wearing the classic black and white with a red shiny tie, then you should think about finding a prom dress in red, wouldn’t you?

Prom dress should go with your shoes
Don’t forget the shoes! Believe you me, a lot of girls plan everything down to the tee for their prom dresses and leave the prom shoes for…whatever they can find in the closet. If you left everything up to me, I’d be planning things from bottom up….which means, I’d choose the shoes before finding the right prom dress. But…..that’s just me!

Other things to remember about your prom
Ok, there are the flowers having to match your prom dress and also the jewelry and handbag. Of course, nothing would look good if you didn’t have someone to work on your makeup and hair during prom night.

And finally, one final note before I bid adieu. Rehearse and try out all of the above a week or more before prom night. And then take it around the house (or room or bathroom) for a quick test run. Sit down, stand up, and dance around to see if the outfit is in any way at all uncomfortable. With a week’s leeway, you still have the time to make changes!
