King and Queen of the Prom – Organize and Honor them right
As with every single prom that I’ve ever organized, read about, discussed about and advised on in all my life, the highlight of the night is always the crowning of the King and Queen of the prom. So, in order to make it a success, it’s hugely important for you to plan the crowning of the prom King and Queen early. You don’t want to start counting the votes on the night itself, do you? Well, some people DO count the votes at the very last minute but let me tell you something, it isn’t a very fun thing for the people counting the votes! Why should some of us miss out on the dancing and partying just to count votes? As with every other boy and girl…it’s their big night too!
So, just so everyone can have their share of fun during prom night, there should, ideally, be a separate committee set up to oversee the nomination, voting and crowning of the Prom King and Queen. This should be done, I should say, two months or so before prom night rolls around. Every one of the student body should be allowed to place a vote on who should win the Prom King and Prom Queen Titles. Usually, there are three nominees for the Prom King and Prom Queen titles, so at the end of the day, three people with the most votes will become the nominees for Prom King and Prom Queen.
You want to have as many votes as possible, you see, so, the prom committee should come up with some posters and place it all around the school a couple of weeks before the end of voting. There’s an important part of the counting of votes process that you should always remember. When counting the votes for Prom King and Prom Queen, have a normal faculty member who is NOT part of the prom planning committee sit in during the counting process. This way, no one has anything to say about the results. Trust me, cat fights can be dramatic during a prom.
Remember the tiara and the corsage for the crowning of the Prom King and Prom Queen of the night. If you want, you can purchase (if there’s budget for it) some scepters as complimentary gifts for the committee members…after all, the prom wouldn’t have been possible with the effort from these people!
