Prep up your prom attire, guys!

While the girls have loads of choices as far as prom dresses are concerned, little can be said about prom attire for guys. It’s always the same old thing….tuxedo or….erm, a tuxedo? But it doesn’t have to be boring tux, you know. There are many things you can do with the tuxedo before prom night so that you can stand out among the sea of blacks.

Match it up with your date If you have a date going to the prom with you, here’s something you can do…and she’ll appreciate it since you brought it up first. One, give your date a call a month or so before prom night and ask her what she’s wearing to the prom. If she’s uncertain, ask her what color she likes and what kind of dress she INTENDS to wear. This way, you will have a better idea instead of no idea. Head on over to the tuxedo shop, let the sales person know that you’re looking for a tuxedo that is NOT black. White is the second most popular choice for prom attire because it is easy to match to other colors in case your date decides to wear something like…orange! Dark blue isn’t too bad as well and if you’re adventurous, try something like a maroon tuxedo which is formal enough yet won’t cause an eye sore.

Wearing a tie to the prom It might not look significant but it can spruce up your tuxedo like nothing else! Just a like the girl’s brooch, it is an essential part of your prom attire. To prep it up, wear something outstanding, be it in color or in design. Frankly, I think a Mickey Mouse tie catches my attention…..but hey, that’s me, you can go with whatever you want, though. :-)

Your prom attire complete set – the shoes You can’t go wrong with black or brown shoes. Sadly, I don’t want to mess your prom attire and make you look like a complete clown when you take my prom advice but it’s best to stick to the norm where shoes are concerned. But what you can do is to give your prom shoes an extra shine and make it positively glow in the dark!
