King Richard’s Faire (Boston)
Apr 3, 2013 - Although everyone’s focus right now is to enjoy what spring has to offer, after a very harsh winter, right now, it is indeed one of the best times to plan for autumn break in Boston. It would be the best time to organize what you need for a great family gathering, or a getaway with your friends, to take your mind away from the stress of dealing with everyday life. For avid travelers, the King’s Richard’s Faire is no stranger to them because as far as festivals are concerned, this is as unique as unique gets in Boston.
As the name suggests, it is a time when we are brought back to the medieval times in Massachusetts and contrary to popular beliefs, the events are not only brought to us in the form of a reenactment nor will it be a play, it is through an amazing mix of fun games and entertainment. The festival has been hailed as one of the best Renaissance festivals in the country and should be a one of a kind experience for foreign visitors. Many of our Boston charter bus rental customers have shared that it was an experience that they will never forget and revealed that they have taken tons of pictures that will serve as precious memories to them in the future.
So, what can one expect at the festival? There will be, of course, the King who will mount the knights and fight on in a mock battle, there will also be games and competitions involving mud (it gives a whole new meaning to getting down and dirty), and after that, visitors can expect to be engaged and entertained throughout the day with stuff like frolicking in the forest.
The festival takes place during fall, so it is really time to get the planning started. The gates usually opens after breakfast around ten thirty and it pays to get there early to avoid the long lines and large crowds. Visitors can enjoy the myriad of games and entertainment right up to early evening when the gate closes.
For those who want to get tickets early, please head over to their official website and purchase them online. Otherwise, the tickets can be purchased at the gate when they open. Frankly speaking, although there is a service charge for booking the tickets online, it sure beats having to endure the long times at the ticket during opening hours.
All in all, there is something for everyone during the King Richard’s Faire, even the young ones, and it is truly one of a kind Renaissance era event in Boston.
Feb 1, 2013 - Not everyone’s into exploring gay bars and dancing the night away while wrestling with rowdy crowds and impatient party-goers. For those who prefer something more classic should bring their Baltimore party bus rental party to Storyville in downtown Boston area; the club stopped operations for a bit but reopened in 2011. Today, instead of giving ‘modern and hip’, it takes you back to the amazing speakeasy days where dining, dancing and drinking are all molded together to create a very refreshing experience when gathering with friends, family or even if it is with your bosses and colleagues.
The one great thing about Storyville is that there is no cover to get in and there is loads of room because of the spacious building. No worries - no struggling with large groups for tables and space on the dance floor and there is just good music coming from the boom box and amazingly palate-pleasing dishes from the kitchen and chef staff. Because Storyville is a pretty popular place with the locals as well as with tourists and foreign visitors (it gets quite a big of attention online and through reviews), the line can be incredibly long but we do not think that you are going to regret having to wait it out in order to get in through the door.
However, some of our Baltimore party bus rental customers were a little unused to one thing...the dark. You see, the club wants to recreate the olden days speakeasy tavern red light district ambiance and back then, it WAS dark, not because they do not want to invest in dark lighting. The charm of the place is that it IS dark and the bouncers and staff would often wander around the place with a flashlight in their hands, helping patrons and customers along the way. That is the special ambiance of the place, you see.
The bartender is attentive to customers’ needs and have concocted special drinks for special days. There are only friendly and warm people to be found at Storyville. They are not just here to have some fun with their own friends, but they are more than ready to extend a hand to make new ones!
The drinks are great considering that they are far more affordable than many other clubs at the same place. And besides, Storyville’s strategic location makes it easy to find, no problems whatsoever with navigations. There is a good mixture of people, from the likes of tourists, foreigners, students, young working people and a cool mix of, surprisingly, business men and women who are looking for a nice place to just chill out together after a hard day’s work.
What is Tax-Free Weekend in Boston
Oct 31, 2012 - If you have ever shopped in Boston during the summer, you may have encountered, or rather, enjoyed something the locals love which is the tax-free weekend which happens every August. There are a two-day specified weekend sale for some products sold. Unfortunately, if you are planning to splurge, products costing two thousand and five hundred and more are not eligible for the tax-free weekend sale, and continue to be subjected to state tax.
All tangible products which singularly costing less than two thousand five hundred will be tax-free...yes, this means the tax does not apply to services. So, if you are going to an expensive spa, report pampering session in Boston, payment is full including taxes is to be expected. The good news is that it will save you quite a couple of bucks if you are heading out for drinks with your friends and family during your vacation in Boston. Considering the price of automobiles, cars, trucks and other motorized vehicles, they are obviously not included.
There are some special rules to remember when you buy clothes during the tax-free weekend – make sure you are buying clothes that costs a hundred and seventy five dollars and less because clothes costing more than that is subjected to tax. Please do check out the government website for more detailed examples of how the tax-free exemption is applied for clothes, if you intend to do a lot of shopping during the weekend.
The other thing to remember is that renting a party bus in Boston during the sales tax-free weekend is exempted because rental is considered a service and not a tangible item. At the end of the day, if you rent a party bus, you are not going to get to take the party bus home with you. But US Coachways assures you that the pricing on our party bus rental packages are already one of the cheapest in the industry and our promise is that there will be no compromise, whatsoever, on the quality of the vehicles that we provide.
